The Best Irish Beer You Have Never Heard Of

Ever Heard of Beamish?

Funny story... so while in Cork we decided to have a drink at a local pub. Of course, being Americans in this small town, we stuck out like sore thumbs compared to all the locals, but we also made the biggest rookie mistake of ordering a Guinness in Cork!

For those of you who do not know, here is a quick history lesson on Guinness. Guinness originated in Dublin, Ireland around 1759. Although well known and very popular across Ireland, the neighboring cities created their own beers as well, one of which is Beamish. Both Beamish and Guinness have that similar dark coloring and famous foam, however, they each have very distinct tastes that make the two cities rival over which beer is truly the best.

What do I think?

Beamish wins! I can honestly say I don't typically drink beer, but Beamish tastes almost like milk it is so smooth. The foam tastes like cream and is a perfect contrast to the golden brew.

Next time you are in Cork you must try a Beamish!
